Student Code of Conduct

General Guidelines

  • Not following the rules in your student diary can lead to disciplinary action. Saying you were unaware of these rules won't be an excuse.
  • Students must show their Almanac regularly to their parent (s) for any instruction / guidance which teacher may write. They must carry it to school every day and use it productively.
  • In case of doubt regarding any of these instructions you must contact the admin department or school authorities and clarify the doubt, if any.
  • The school reserves the right to terminate the continuance of students with unsatisfactory progress in studies or whose conduct is a bad example for the others.
  • Students who are escorted to and fro from the school under the care / guidance of servants or other domestic staff may not leave the school campus without their nominated escort. In case of a delay in the arrival of such escorts, the parents must inform the matter to the school admin department.
  • The school is not responsible for goods lost. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles to school. Kindly label all the belongings clearly.

A. Turn Out (Uniform)

  • Please check your uniform before you leave home in the morning. It should be clean, ironed and as per regulations. Shoes should be polished, and missing buttons and opened out stitching should be attended personally. Identity Card is a part of uniform and must be worn at all times.
  • Boys should maintain a reasonable length of hair and have regular haircuts. They are not allowed to use gel / cream and sport spikes on their hair. Long side burns or long hair at the back of the neck are not permitted. Beards or stubble growth are not allowed and regular shaving must be done as necessary. (This does not apply to Sikh boys unless they have opted to be 'clean shaven'). Finger nails must be kept clean and clipped short.
  • During term time, students will wear the appropriate school uniform when they come into the school campus, no matter what the reason.
  • Girls are not allowed to apply heena on their hands unless taken permission. They are not allowed to wear earrings or rings or nose rings of Gold / Silver.
  • Girls with long hair must plait their hair. Black Hair-band / Rubber band is a part of uniform and it must be worn by all girl students in or out of the campus, while representing the school. Colouring or bleaching of hair is not at all permitted.
  • Black cycling shorts are compulsory for girls from Grade 04 to Grade 12.
  • The school does not take responsibility for the jewellery worn by the students.

B. Co-curricular Activities

  • These organized activities are compulsory for students unless exempted on medical grounds.
  • If a student is unable to participate in the prescribed activity, he / she will remain present at the place where the activity is in progress till it is over, unless / otherwise permitted by the School Authorities.
  • Students will be assessed in their Physical Proficiency and the grade will be endorsed in their Examination results.

C. Academics

  • Students must have a minimum of 75% attendance in the 220 working days of the academic year or number of days in the prescribed academic period.
  • Students are advised to use English Language with the teachers and friends during the school time. Except language teachers (Gujarati, Hindi, French and Sanskrit), you have to communicate only in English.

D. Leave and Absence

  • A student must re-join the school in time and on the date specified after a holiday / weekend or vacation. Failure to do so will elicit disciplinary action unless he / she is otherwise permitted in advance by the School Authorities.
  • Leave applications should be addressed in writing to the Principal preferably in advance.
  • Unauthorized absence from School for more than six working days at stretch will automatically result in an assumption that the child has left school.
  • Entry into school premises will not be permitted 20 minutes after the school commences. (No request for exemption will be entertained.)
  • Students are not permitted to leave the school campus during school hours, without a written permission and gate pass from the school authorities. The written permission can be received by submitting an application to the Principal, well in advance.
  • Parents should inform the school authority either by phone / Email if the child is absent for two consecutive days.
  • When the child is on leave, it is the parent's responsibility to see about the pending work is completed or not.
  • Parents are requested to plan their vacation according to the holidays mentioned in almanac or intimated by broadcasting the message.
  • Students should not be absent during the examinations. No re-test will be conducted. In case of absence due to medical reason, proper medical certificate has to be produced, then a student may be promoted on his / her past academic performance but no position / grade will be given.

E. Health and Sickness

  • The school provides medical examination for all students during the course of each academic year. All students are required to undergo medical examination as advised by the Medical Officer.
  • Students affected by infections or contagious disease / or exposed to such diseases in their home must take the medical treatment before joining the school. A certificate of medical fitness is to be produced at the time of joining.
  • In case of an accident or emergency during school hours students will be given first aid treatment in the school. If necessary, they will be taken to the nearest Hospital or Nursing Home. Parents will be informed immediately on the mobile numbers given to the school. In an emergency, the Principal will sign the necessary medical forms on behalf of the parent.
  • The school reserves the right to administer inoculation and vaccination as recommended by the Medical Officer.

F. Discipline

  • Any individual or collective action which is willfully disobedient, defiant or provocative and against the physical and mental wellbeing of the school may result in the expulsion of student(s) from the school.
  • Students are required to maintain public decorum and self-restraint, on their way to or from the school and in school uniform. This is applicable both when using private / public transport as well as school transport.
  • Students will not litter the classrooms or campus. All litter will be thrown in the nearest garbage can and a special effort must be made to keep the surroundings clean.
  • Any willful damage or destruction to school property will be severely dealt with and punitive cost of the damage fines will also be imposed. Simple cost of damage may be recovered if done so accidentally and immediately reported to the school authorities by the student(s) responsible.
  • Students must not bring any cash, valuable or costly items to the school. The school is not responsible for any loss of such items if brought by the students. Bringing mobile phones, cameras, expensive pens, wrist watches, pencil boxes etc to school is strictly forbidden.
  • Students are not allowed to wear any bracelet or any smart / fancy watch.
  • Students are prohibited to explode the crackers on any occasion or splashing the wet colours during Holi in the school premises.
  • It is mandatory for all the students, unless instructed otherwise to be present for all national festivals and functions celebrated by the school.
  • Students are advised not to buy or receive any articles, gifts or foodstuffs from anyone at all en-route.
  • Causing a disturbance or unnecessary shouting in the classrooms or in the campus especially during working hours is not appreciated.
  • Eating snacks or chewing gum, betel nut leaf etc. in or around the classroom or elsewhere in the campus is not permitted. Lunch/snacks can be consumed during the allotted time.
  • Students below the age prescribed by the MOTOR VEHICLE ACT are advised against driving cars or two wheelers (mopeds, bikes or scooters etc.).
  • ANY STUDENT FOUND IN POSSESSION OF OR USING ANY FORM OF TOBACCO, ALCOHOL, NARCOTICS OR HALLUCINOGEON WILL BE EXPLELLED FROM THE SCHOOL WITHOUT WARNING OR NOTICE.
  • Bullying, in any form, of a student is strictly prohibited. Harassment, stealing, teasing or any form of ill treatment inflicted on juniors or other students will constitute a serious offence and result in the expulsion of the offender from the school.
  • Boys are not permitted to wear ear rings or ear studs regardless of religious or other reasons.
  • It is mandatory that all students refrain from any kind of birthday celebration in the school campus. No casual / colourful dress and no distribution of sweets or gifts are allowed in the campus.
  • Students are prohibited from bringing any sort of publications, reference books, CDs or other storage devices like floppies, pen-drives or i-pods, which are not relevant to academic pursuits.
  • MLZSA has Zero tolerance towards physical assault. Violence in schools is something so morally wrong that it will not be tolerated. If a student is found involved in any activity involving physical assault, he / she will be suspended for seven days with immediate effect.

To maintain discipline in school, we are adopting a policy of issuing Yellow, Orange, & Red coloured Slips to the students.

  • Any student who violates the school's rules & regulations will be issued a Yellow Slip with communal warning.
  • Any student who found 2nd time from violates the school's rules & regulations will be issued a Orange Slip with final communal warning.
  • A Red Slip is the final warning with 1 week suspension for the student after which he / she will be expelled.
  • Please note the criteria for which the Yellow Slip will be issued followed by orange Slip with 3 days suspension:

  • Bullying.
  • Behavioural issues.
  • Not completing work even after two communal warnings.
  • Absenteeism without prior notice / permission.
  • Breach of Policy / Code of Conduct.
  • Possessed, sold or furnished firearm, knife, explosive, or other dangerous object.
  • Offered, arranged, or negotiated to sell look-alike controlled substances, alcohol, or intoxicants.
  • Caused or attempted to cause damage to school or private property.
  • Possessed or used tobacco or products containing tobacco or nicotine.
  • Committed obscene act or engaged in habitual profanity or vulgarity, committed sexual harassment.
  • Disrupted school activities.
  • Violating bus rules.
  • G. Transport

    • All students using the school transport are expected to be on the same side of the road at the bus stop at least five to seven minutes before the arrival of the bus.
    • The buses will not wait for latecomers.
    • School buses will stop at designated points only. No diversions / extensions will be entertained on existing routes.
    • Students will be held responsible for any damage to the buses caused by negligence or vandalism. Students will be fined for any damage to the bus.
    • Unruly behaviour inside the bus will amount to strict disciplinary action, failing which the transport facility will be terminated.
    • It is the responsibility of the parents to pick up their wards from the allotted bus stop, failing which the child will be brought back to school.
    • Students are not allowed for eatables and not to discard trash inside the bus.
    • No one should board / leave the bus till it makes a complete stop. Get down of the bus only when it halts at the stop completely.
    • A month's notice in writing or a month's fee in lieu of notice should be given to the school, if a child discontinues to avail the bus services.
    • In case you wish to change your bus / bus stop for a day or two, prior information shall be given to the school.
    • Any change of Residential address must immediately be brought to the notice of the school.

    H. Library

    • Absolute silence must be maintained in the library and the books should be handled with care.
    • Only one book would be issued during the library period as per class timetable.
    • The book must be checked for any damage before getting it issued and to be informed to the Librarian. Books damaged while in possession will have to be replaced by the borrower, failing which parents will be billed the cost of replacement.
    • Until the previously issued book is returned, an additional book will not be issued. A book can be issued for seven days. The same can be re-issued further.
    • The Library has an open access system and the students must help to maintain the order of the books on different shelves.
    • No work completion to be done in the library.
    • All library books should be returned before the Annual Examination.

    I. Admission & Withdrawal

    • Admission to this school is restricted by certain government & council regulations and by conditions of age, ability and conduct.
    • No admission is complete until the School Leaving Certificate from the last recognised school attended is produced, countersigned by the District Education Officer of the State, if the pupil comes from another State. For fresh admission, a Birth Certificate is required.
    • A student who fails twice in a particular grade will not be permitted to continue his/her studies in school.

    Transfer Certificate will be issued:

  • Application to be made by the parents or guardian
  • After all dues have been paid
  • Library books returned.
  • The Transfer Certificate will take approximately 15 days for processing.
  • Fees are due as long as no notice of withdrawal is given.
  • Students can be asked to leave the school on the following grounds:

  • Disciplinary
  • Unsatisfactory progress in work
  • Attendance below 75 %
  • J. School Fees Payment

    • The Tuition fees can be paid in four installments:

      1st Installment Month of April
      2nd Installment Month of July
      3rd Installment Month of October
      4th Installment Month of January
    • A penalty of Rs.25/- per day will be charged for late payment of a fee. The late fees fine has been implemented to ensure the regular payment of fees. The amount collected would be utilized either for the children�s class library or donated to an NGO for underprivileged children.
    • A penalty of Rs. 1000 will be levied in case a cheque issued for fees is dishonored by the bank.
    • Fees once paid will not be refunded, irrespective of whether the child has attended school or not.
    • In case of admission / withdrawal during mid-term, the tuition fees and transport charges for that particular quarter will be charged / not to be refunded as the case may be.
